No really, what does this bring to the table? No new information on anything other than possibly new wallpapers in Windows 7?

Or does the glowing logo somehow make the OS consume less resources when not actually doing anything else than telling CPU to idle?

It's a shame none of the screenshots show resource usage... That's what everyone cares about. Who cares what the stock wallpapers are.
